The meadows down from Judge Rye Road to Trout Pond are also very pleasant, and the entire Day 3 route from Trout Pond back to Bucktail proceeds through old growth, heavily ferned forest bottoms, with more open sightlines than most of the Day 1 trail. At the intersection with the Bucktail Cutoff Trail, there is a really nice campsite next to the somewhat reliable Halfmoon Run, wasn't the most flowing stream that we've seen so far.
